What is the difference between tags and segments?
Tag = A list of subscribers. When you upload subscribers to your Rule account, you need to place them in a tag. For example, when you download a file to your computer, you name it something appropriate to understand what the file contains. It’s the same in Rule – when you upload subscribers to your account, you categorize them by placing them in a tag to specify what type of list it is.
Segment = Further divide your customers. Segments are created based on the data/information you have about your customers and subscribers. This is usually customer data and information such as name, postal code, location, customer type, interests, etc., which are referred to as subscriber fields.
Exclude a tag or segment from a campaign
To exclude a tag or segment from a campaign, add a minus sign before the name of the tag or segment. The selected tag or segment will then be highlighted in red, and the subscribers in that list will not receive the mailing, even if they are included in other tags or segments in the mailing!
Note:
Excluding a tag or segment must be done before a mailing is sent, meaning when a campaign is still in draft or scheduled mode and not afterward.
