Get started with SMS campaigns

With Rule’s SMS feature, you can seamlessly send and receive messages from your subscribers, creating a direct and personal dialogue on mobile.

By using SMS campaigns, you reach your audience at the right moment—before both physical and digital visits—while driving traffic to your other channels and maximizing conversion.

Activate the SMS feature

To start sending SMS through Rule, you must first activate the feature. This is done by ordering a stoplink, that is used for your subscribers to be able to unsubscribe from your SMS.

To place an order, please send an email to support@rule.se. In your order, please include information about which countries you plan to send SMS to, if it is outside of Sweden. The cost for a stoplink is a one-time fee of 1400 SEK.

Once your registration is complete, the unsubscribe text will be added to your account. You are then able to send SMS through Rule.

Information about SMS

  1. Automatic SMS campaigns: To send automatic SMS campaigns, you do the same as with an automatic email, you can read more about it in the article about your first marketing automation. The only difference is that you choose SMS instead of email.

  2. Rule shortens links that are included in the SMS and are over 25 characters. If you still want to include the entire link in the email: remove https:// and only write www, but if you have your own link that Rule has not shortened, you cannot track clicks in the SMS.

ATTN: Shortened links and UTM materialare not applied to SMS previews.

  3. Please note that an additional cost is added per sent SMS (40 cents) and also remember that consent is required to send SMS. For more tips on SMS marketing, see also our blog.

  4. How do you import phone numbers in Rule? The import is done in the same way as with a regular subscriber import, either via file upload or API.

In order for Rule to easily read in phone numbers during import, the number should be written in country code format, for example +4673867xxx. (46 for Sweden and removing the 0)

  5. The language for the unsubscribe message in a sent SMS is decided by the language setting for the recipient
