In Rule, you can manage subscribers and their communication via email and SMS. This includes unsubscribing, blocking, or managing statuses such as Unconfirmed, Active, or Blocked.
All active subscribers you can communicate with through any channel are included in the cost of your plan. You are not charged for blocked subscribers.
Subscribers
In Subscribers, you can click on "All" to see the different statuses of your subscribers. You can view 'All', 'Active', 'Pending', 'Blocked', and 'Without tags'.
There may be differences in numbers between all subscribers and active subscribers.
Status of subscribers
Pending
The subscriber has not yet confirmed consent to receive communication (via Double Opt-in). Marketing preferences cannot be adjusted for these subscribers, either in the subscriber profile or via the API.
– Excluded from segmentation, statistics, and external audiences.
– Cannot receive marketing communication until consent is given.
– Can receive transactional messages (e.g., order confirmations).
Active
The subscriber is active and can receive communication through channels they have not unsubscribed from.
– Included in segmentation, statistics, and audiences.
– Can receive marketing messages.
– Can receive transactional messages.
Unsubscribed
Subscribers who unsubscribe from your campaigns are not deleted from your account but are unsubscribed from the specific channel.
Reasons for unsubscribing may include:
- The subscriber clicking the unsubscribe link themselves.
- Someone else clicking the unsubscribe link in a forwarded email.
- The campaign being publicly shared and readers clicking the unsubscribe link.
- Spam reporting (the system automatically applies suppression).
- Hard bounce.
A subscriber can reactivate themselves via the unsubscribe link in a previously received message.
Alternatively, you can request the “reactivate” permission to manage this yourself in the app.
Blocked
A blocked subscriber cannot receive any form of marketing communication and is not included in custom audiences.
– Cannot receive marketing communication.
– Can be unblocked via the API (remove suppressions) or manually in the subscriber profile.
– Transactional messages are always delivered, and the subscriber’s status is automatically updated to Active.
