Use of language as subscriber data

In Rule, you can use language data to segment your communication based on subscriber language.

There are two ways to easily manage language data in Rule. If you have a list where all addresses should have the same language, such as Swedish or English, you can simply add a "language value" when importing the tag.

If your XSL file contains a column named language, which means different languages for the subscribers in the file to be imported, you need to create a custom field with the same name as the language column in the XSL file. Learn more about how to create custom fields here.

To be able to build filters correctly, the correct language codes must be used in the file being imported. We follow the ISO standard for language codes, which you can read more about here.

Here are some examples of commonly used language codes to be used for language designations in the import file:

Code    Language

en   English

ar    Arabic

da   Danish

de   German

es   Spanish

fi    Finnish

fr    French

it    Italian

nl    Dutch

no   Norwegian

pl    Polish

ru    Russian

sv    Swedish

uk    Ukrainian

zh    Chinese

nb    Norwegian Bokmål
