Calculate the number of characters in an SMS

A SMS unit consists of 160 characters

  1. This refers to "normal characters", or so-called standard characters
  2. You can send multiple SMS units in a sequence and pay a fixed cost per unit
  3. In Rule, you can send up to six units in a sequence, which corresponds to 800 characters
  4. Special characters such as emojis and other exotic letters consume more characters than standard characters, so we have chosen to exclude them.
  5. Links included in the SMS are clickable - this applies to both Android and iPhone.
